I booked through a travel agent. It was not a package but simply a flight to Vancouver from Hong Kong. I stupidly assumed that we get the class of ticket so that we can refer to the chart to figure out what mileage we can earn. I never knew there was fine print since there are classes,example X that earns 0 mileage. It seems like common sense to just classify as X if they are not awarding mileage.

The chart has worked for decades but obviously Air Canada now is making things worse under the pretence they are improving their program. I just can't understand why airlines treat customers so badly.
