Two Silver Aviator Cards

I have had two silver aviator cards since 2016. I did this in order to get two companion certificates every year. In 2016, I had no problem earning my EQMs on both. I spent my $20,000 on one card and then went to work on the other. The EQMs posted shortly after I spent $20,000 on each card. Last year things changed. I spent $20,000 on one card and the 5000 EQMs posted shortly after hitting that mark. I hit the $20,000 mark on the other card and shortly thereafter the event posted to my AAdvantage account but not the 5000 EQMs. I called Barclays and got various stories like the EQMs will post shortly. I also got the story that you can only earn on one card and once you reach the $20,000 spending level on the first card, you need to spend $40,000 on that card to earn the other 5000 EQMs. This was contrary to my reading of the terms for the benefits. The problem was elevated and I was advised I was correct and my second 5000 EQMs posted shortly thereafter. In 2018, I spent $20,000 on the first card and the EQMs posted a few days later. As soon as I hit $20,000 on the second card, I called Barclays and the person advised it should post soon. I called back several weeks later and was advised once again that you cannot earn EQMs on two Barclays cards. That person is elevating the matter. Again, I am back on the treadmill with these people.

I think part of the confusion deals the EQD benefit Barclays added in 2017. Initially, they really did not give much information on how that benefit would work if you have two silver aviator cards but later in 2017 they set out some terms and included a warning on my online benefits page that if you reach $25,000 on one card then you need to spend the additional $25,000 on that card to earn the additional $3,000 EQDs. Now the terms for EQMs do not have any such language nor is there a warning on my benefits page about earning EQMs on only one card. I am coming to the conclusion that a second companion certificate is simply not worth it. It is not like the companion certificate in the old US Airways days where you got the companion certificate on your anniversary regardless of your spending and the companions could upgrade and earn miles. That was a sweet deal.

In any event, is there anyone else out there who possesses two silver aviator cards that might be having similar problems?
