It wasn't hidden, so clearly the cleaners didn't do a good job although you have to wonder why anyone using them would think this was a good place to leave it, vs. the enormously huge effort of putting it in a bin...
We complained to the hotel, they were horrified and gave us a bottle of champagne as compensation. We weren't looking for compensation and didn't request it either, just wanted to point out to them that it wasn't particularly nice to find it.
