Upon arrival, you must exit TBIT because after you clear immigration and customs, you're dumped landside. This is the rule at all US airports.

That's what I would do. I might take a quick look at TBIT security line, but it's generally not a pretty sight. There's also transit security in TBIT, but they don't have true Pre and I'd rather just do the short walk to T4.

Nope. Your LAX-SFO BP and *G status will get you into *A lounge. Arriving BP will not.
