If I were still working in the UK, my employer would purchase the Premium Economy as that's the class I was allowed (but I was doing better than my colleagues who were only allowed Economy). And as it would have been purchased by their travel agent, I would not have been able to do anything about it. Only at check-in, I could see If I had an upgrade offer.
