Jut as many folks above, I got approved for Global Entry and TSA Precheck (included) today.
I am on H1B Visa and here is my situation and timeline:
Last week of September 2017: filled GOES application and paid fee of $100. At the time of filling the GOES application, I had a valid H1B stamped visa till October 11th 2017
October 1st 2017: Got email from Indian Passport Office to schedule appointment
October 6th 2017: Scheduled appointment on 16th with Passport Kendra (Ameerpet, Hyderabad)
October 15th 2017: Landed in India
October 16th 2017: Went to passport office and had my documents verified. Was told a police officer would be visiting my home. Application status in the passport portal changed to 'Pending Police Verification'
October 17th 2017: A special branch police officer visited my home and verified Aadhar, voter ID, passport , 10th class SSC, B.E degree. also took two witness signatures from my neighbours. In the evening I got a text on my india phone number that the application was processed.
Application status in the passport portal changed to: ' GEP Verification Process has been initiated on your application. Once inputs from all the concerned Government Authorities are received, the Report will be shared with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). No queries would be entertained in relation to your GEP application status at the Passport Offices and PSP Call Centre. You may contact CBP for further updates on the processing of your GEP application. '
October 18th 2017: Went to US Consulate dropbox and dropped my passport for a new visa stamp
October 26th 2017: Got my passport from US consulate with the new visa valid till October 2020
end of October 2017: Traveled back to USA
Early 2018: GOES portal changed to ttp.cbp.dhs.gov and after linking my GOES ID, all my information was automatically transferred. The status showed: Pending Conditional approval
June 7th: Recieved a notification email from ttp.cbp.dhs.gov portal that there is a change in my status. Logged in to the website to see that the conditional approval has been approved and asked me to schedule an interview with a CBP officer. Lot of slots available for SAT airport. Took an appointment for June 13th 2018.
June 13 2018: Attended the CBP interview. Showed my passport and new visa. CBP officer updated the old visa information with the new one. A VALID VISA STAMP IS A MUST. He read out a few standard questions and also about why I was interested in Global Entry, took my picture, finger prints and checked something in his computer and said I am APPROVED. My PASSID would now be the Known Traveller number or TSA PRE CHECK effective immediately. He said i will recieve my card in 2 weeks but pre check is effective immediately.
Global entry valid till June 2023
My sincere suggestion is to have patience and wait for the status to change on the ttp portal.
