Dear WestJet,

I know you want to attract more business travellers. Here are two tips!

First, those of us flying the Western Canadian triangle between YYC, YEG and YVR would fly on WestJet and not Air Canada if you gave us free standby on these routes like Air Canada does. Nothing worse than finishing a business day early and having to wait around for 3-4 hours because you want a change fee at the airport that I refuse to eat. Oh, and they will do this change even on an Econo fare equivalent (Standard). Perhaps extend your eastern triangle program to the West? Now you're standing out.

Second, if you want me to spend money with you, you have to make it easier to qualify on WestJet Rewards Gold and not restrict me to pure WestJet metal to earn status. I love flying with you when you fly where I want to go, but even being based in YYC, there are many trans-border airports you don't fly to. Your partner Delta does, but you won't credit me the spend on that even I book at WestJet.com as a WestJet marketed flight. That's too bad, because I just paid competitors $4000 for three very last minute trips for business I would much have preferred to give to you.
