He got someone else involved and then possibly a manager who looked at my phone, played with the app and then said I had no reservation (she was refreshing the booking on the app but my phone doesn't always play ball as it is old and really sluggish, so the spinning wheel thing told her there was no booking) and that they were fully booked so there's no way I could have booked. Ended up sleeping in my car elsewhere as lack of local rooms that night and prices were high.
That's not good at all, but whilst still at the hotel front desk I think that I would have been on to IHG asking them to confirm my reservation to the hotel, or have my laptop or phone browser open to again show them the reservation. I wouldn't have given up and left to sleep in my car without more of a fight, or at least trying to invoke the online reservation guarantee to get them to find me a room elsewhere.

In a previous post you mentioned your points being returned so, assuming you contacted IHG to sort that out, what did they have to say about what happened with your reservation and the hotel's lack of assisting you as per guarantee etc.?
