Does the "online reservation guarantee" only work with cash bookings or points as well? Doesn't seem to say from cursory viewings.
So your reservation wasn’t honoured and IHG just refunded your points? Or did they find you a room elsewhere and refund your points as per the guarantee?
The guarantee covers all online bookings secured with a credit card, including Reward Night bookings.
