Is the info in this thread still accurate? I’ve got my card but my wife doesn’t. I recall being told we’d NEVER need the card at the interview except at ports. Guess that’s not correct. Leaving soon home so wondering if we should allow more time.
Ive never done preclearance here in Canada, do we go through it before checking bags or after?
I departed YUL for the USA last month, it goes like this:
1) check in at UA ticket counter, get bags tagged
2) you drop your tagged bags on baggage belt right behind the ticket counter
3) walk to CATSA lobby area
4) show GE card to the line monitor to get in the priority CATSA screening line
5) exit CATSA screening, go to GE kiosk
6) present GE receipt/passport/BP to CBP agent sitting in the booth (slightly annoying that the booth is not dedicated to GE/NEXUS people and you may have to wait for others to clear with the agent before you)
7) shop in duty free store after immigration
