Using Alaska Lounge When Not Flying on Alaska
Had an interesting (and for me new) experience last week at the Portland lounge. I went in and was politely greeted at the desk. I showed them my Alaska Lounge card (not a Priority Pass) and was asked to provide my Alaska boarding pass. I told them I just arrived and they asked to see my boarding pass from whatever flight I was on. I showed my Southwest boarding pass to them and asked if this is a new policy (to check boarding passes even for Alaska Lounge card holders) - was given a non-committal answer. I was not hassled or ejected for not having an Alaska boarding pass but it made me wonder why they'd implement such a policy other than to track usage for the purpose of eventually denying entry to non-Alaska flyers. Or maybe this was a lounge employee going rogue? Has this happened to you?
