Flying June 19 MIA-MAD-FCO on AA MIA-MAD and AA codeshare on IB MAD-FCO, all on one PNR in W (on the longhaul, anyway). From what I read in this thread, I understand the following:
a
  • my baggage will be through-checked to FCO
  • I will go through immigration at MAD and customs in FCO
  • 115 minutes between flights is sufficient, but I need to keep moving since there are long walks and a train involved between T4-S and T-4, plus the possible long lines at immigration and security at T4
  • At immigration, I should use the rightmost non-EU citizen queue
  • Since this is all on one PNR, if I get delayed on the inbound or stuck at immigration, I will be protected and put on the next MAD-FCO flight.
Please confirm this is accurate and if I missed anything.

FWIW, I use a wheelchair full-time and my mother-in-law will be in one as well, which effectively shortens the time between flights as we will be last ones off and ideally want to pre-board.

Thanks!
