Hi, my first time posting and not sure where I do that. My husband and I had booked flights on Copa traveling to the US from São Paulo bought this past winter for traveling in June. Since then we have learned that our daughter will be having major surgery the day before our return flight in July . I am needing to stay extra time with her and so called to change the flight. In addition to the $300 change fee they were adding another $1100 dollars for the changed flight! I would like to cancel the return flight and purchase a one way ticket on another airline. Is there a cancellation fee that may be applied? Or should I do a no show? Can they penalize my husband’s flight? When should I advise them? Thanks in advance.
