The carry on size is a reasonable requirement. I for one am so tired of people trying to stuff the kitchen sink in the overhead bins and slowing down boarding and deplaning. My luggage has always fit this requirement so no changes for me.
Agreed, BUT I am one of the frequent flyers that researched bag sizing and actually bought a bag to fit the previous carry on limits. Now that the dimensions are smaller, I either check the bag or buy a smaller. Neither are desirable and frankly their reasoning behind the change is thin. It doesn’t jive with their recent effort to increase overhead bin space vertically with the new bins.

“We’re making these bigger for you, but you have to bring a smaller bag than previously allowed because we want to save you from being stupid”. Uh, what?
