Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you ask, like business travelers) the flying public in the US has spoken that they prefer frequency over capacity, so routes that used to see 767's, 757's, DC10's, or A300's are now 737's, A320's, or even RJ's. An airline is not going to throw 2-3 777's on a route that can make money with a 737.
