I am planning a trip for early August from EWR to Ibiza. United's flight from EWR arrives at the H gates and LH's flight to Ibiza departs from the K gates. H and L gates are for International arrivals and departures, the first in T2 and the second in the Satellite terminal of T2.If you arrive from EWR and continue to, say, Delhi, you don't need to pass through Immigration / passport control.
G and K gates are for Schengen arrivals and departures. So if you are travelling within / between Schengen countries, and you arrival is in G or K, no need to clear immigration.
However, if you are arriving at H or L and go to G or K, you will always have to clear passport check. You can do that on either side, in Terminal 2 or in the Satellite. So if the passport lane seems full in Terminal 2 (H gates), just follow the signage to the L gates and go through Immigration there.
Also, be careful if you clear passport control in H gates: Leaving the passport control, this can easily be confusing, as the main exit is towards the exit. CONNECTING flights are splitting off immediately after the passport control booths. Make sure you take a good look at the signage there.
Also, REMEMBER: There is NO NEED to collect bags in MUC. They will not deliver them and will be checked through and end up at your final destination. You will clear CUSTOMS in your final destination IBZ regardless on where you come from.
1.5 hours is plenty of time. Suggested minimum connection time in MUC is somewhere between 35-45 minutes.
