Some late field reports...
April 27, HEL-BKK. First, the menu.
The best thing about the starter was karjalanpiirakka (the karelian pie). Both the salmon and the accompanying horseradish were fine by themselves, but as a mix didn't work as well.
For the main course, I chose the fish. Yes, I know. Anyone who has seen the movie Airplane knows that you should never have fish on the airplane. Nevertheless, I did. And it was pretty much in line with what I've experienced previously from Finnair J when flying out of Helsinki: simple, humble looks, but extremely tasty.
And finally, dessert cheeses and ice cream. Of course at this point I'm drunk and tired so my judgment is less objective, but it still was nice.
A very satisfying flight overall, foodwise and otherwise. I've often been please with the food in Finnair's long-haul J flights to Asia and this was another pleasant experience.
