Growing up, I always had a card in my name, but that was my parents' account. I had no credit myself.
Local bank gave me a $1000 loan with a $1000 CD as collateral. Made payments - think interest cost me $3 a month.
By the end of 6 months, had credit score in the 700's. Just a thought.
