So I booked a flight on Tuesday with American Airlines and then 10 mins later I cancelled it once I realized that I booked the flight with the incorrect layover time. It's been 2 days now and the Pending charge is still there. I contacted American Airlines and they stated that the credit was issued yesterday but the refund won't appear on my account until 1-2 billing cycles. I was hoping that due to cancelling so quickly, the pending charge would just drop off and I would have the money in my account again and I could rebook the correct flight. I wasn't willing to pay the $200 they charge to correct the flight! My question is what will happen to the pending charge? Will it eventually go through and I have to wait till the credit shows up on my account or will it just stay there pending for 1-2 billing cycles? I reached out to my bank today as well and they said it was up to the Merchant to release the credit but I could conference call AA in and AA could provide an authorization number for immediate release for the money, however I feel this might be too late as AA said they released the credit yesterday.
