I am confused about the JFK-GYE flight on LAN. I thought this was
a OneWorld flight.
Here are the sources of my confusion:
I purchased the ticket using a LAN certificate from AMEX.
The ticket itself says LanChile in two places, and does not say Lan
Ecuador anywhere (other than the XL code). The ticket jacket says
LanChile.
When you go to Lan.com and look at
http://www18.lan.com/compania/oneworld.html
It says the following:
"LAN's incorporation into oneworld means not only that our passengers
will have access to benefits to make their trips easier and more
pleasant, but they will also earn awards redeemable with all oneworld
associates.
"This mega-alliance includes Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British
Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, LAN, Iberia and Qantas."
Also on
http://www18.lan.com/compania/quienes_somos-EN.html:
"LAN is a commercial alliance comprised of LAN CHILE, LAN PERU, LAN
ECUADOR, LAN CARGO and LAN EXPRESS."
I also add that when you go on
http://www.oneworldalliance.com/
you see the LAN logo, not the logo of any of the individual
LAN airlines. When you click on the LAN logo, you are brought
to a page that only uses the world LAN without reference to
any of the LAN airlines. When you click on "Weekly flight schedules"
from the OneWorld page, it takes you to a LAN page where you can
find the GYE-JFK flight listed.
However, now I hear that my flight is not a OneWorld flight.
Is this not completely deceptive, if not fraudulant? The
information on LAN's website seems to conclusivly state
that LAN ECUADOR is part of LAN which is part of OneWorld.
The OneWorld website only backs this information up.
I am AA platimum. Will I at least be able to check in the
Business class line or use the lounge at JFK?
