Cathay Pacific Premium Economy: Hong Kong - Boston

Cathay Pacific
Premium Economy Class (E)
CX812: HKG-BOS (Hong Kong to Boston)
26 May 2018
Boeing 777-300ER (77W Four Class Configuration)
B-KPJ
Seat 32A

Departure: 06:15PM
Arrival: 10:10PM

First stop was the new lounge, The Deck. It was a crowded mess, so I left immediately. My next stop was the Pier First Class Lounge. There's a lot of walking involved at HKG, so it was a bit of a walk to the lounge. Once there, I made a beeline for the private dining area.

Menu

Rice Noodles with Shredded Chicken
This was not good. Really bland and tasteless. One bite and pass.

Beef Burger
Now, this was quite good. Really hit the spot.

Yuzu Sorbet
Light and refreshing. Hit the spot.

Next I just relaxed for an hour and zone out on my iPad. Eventually I made my way to the Pier Business Class Lounge to grab an espresso and a shower. Shower done, it was nearly dinner time. Wanting to hedge against inedible onboard food, I got some Malaysian food in the food court near gate 40.

Chicken Rendang
Yummy and fall off the bone tender. Couldn't finish the rice, but the chicken was delicious.

B-KPJ
Not my first time flying this exact plane. Flew LAX-HKG on it last year.

Pretty light load on this flight, so no op-up for me. Though I wasn't expecting it since I knew the loads would be fairly light.

Menu
More smoked duck starters. Yuck.

Pasta
Got the pasta this time and it was quite good, if a bit bland.

At this point, it was about two hours into the flight and I was exhausted. I put on my eyemask and earplugs to drown out the infant a few rows over on the starboard side. I then fell asleep for a solid 10 hours. I only awoke when the cabin lights were turned on and the breakfast service was about to begin.

Eggs this time
The Cantonese offering sounded not to my liking, shall we say. This was pretty good. Better than usual.

I'll never understand why they serve breakfast on these flights. We arrive into BOS around 10PM, so a second light dinner would be more suitable. Oh well.

In any event, this flight was uneventful for me as I slept through most of it. I was glad to be (almost) home and definitely had a great trip in Asia.

Our next planned trip is in November (with Mrs. Swingaling this time). We'll be going to New Zealand by way of Oslo, Stockholm and Doha (with connections in London too). Nothing else planned before then, but something could always come up last minute. We shall see.
