Amankila is a 35-suite intimate resort in a relatively undisturbed region of Bali.

If I was 14 again, I would enjoy Jimbaran a lot more.
Jimbaran is hardly one of Bali's most popular areas but having said that the end where the FS is does have more going on than the rest of the beach in that there are the fish restaurants and the FS's own restaurant and pool (the main part of the FS Resort is on the headland. Jimbaran is one of the quietest beaches in Bali - although there are hotels built along it, these are set back in their own gardens - there are none of the miles of beach umbrellas that you would see in Nusa Dua, Seminyak etc. though Seminyak would be a great area to take a 14 year old.

One cultural activity that a 14 year old boy would enjoy is the Kecak dance performance at Uluwatu - it is touristy of course but then that is Bali!

And don't worry about the service - the service everywhere in Bali is amazing.
