Indeed. And considering room charges of often over $100 a night, what's an extra two or three bucks? These folks actually WORK for a living, and make very little money.
I also used to just leave the tip at the end of my stay, but I began to realize that many times the same housekeeper is not assigned the same room each day. So I may end up tipping someone $10 who has just cleaned my room once. Since then I've been leaving a tip each day, even if it's only a one night stay.
