If I upgrade now (via website) and then later decide I actually want to go back to PY, and not use the upgrade is that:
- possible?
- will I loose the miles?

Flight is about 6 weeks away, 10 empty seats on the A350 in J.
Assuming that you can clear both ways HKG-BCN-HKG now. The answer is yes you can cancel the upgrade and keep your original booking in R (even if in certain cases, the R fare is no longer available - I guess not applicable in your case as you have flown the first sector, historical pricing of the fare will apply generally.) You will get back all your miles for a redeposit fee of USD$120. bear in mind if you decide to upgrade yet again later (after 6/22) before your flight, it will cost 50k to upgrade roundtrip.
