Does anyone publish "point values" for Hertz/National/Avis like FrequentMiler has for Hotel and Airlines? Seems easy enough to figure out.
I just got 7 National points for my 30 day rental. Takes 5 credits to get a free day so lets call that 1.4 days. The rental cost about $1000 here in Puerto Rico for the month w the corporate rate, with $750 of that the actual rental price not tax. Considering a daily rate is about $40 (just my gut feeling for an average rental price after discounts, not including tax), then my 1.4 days are worth $56. 56/750=.0746% return. That seems pretty reasonable, especially tacking on the 3-4.5% I'm getting from my 3X rewards cards. That would also imply National credits are worth about $8 each. Of course getting a last minute or one way rental may boost up the value of credit substantially.
Can anyone pull together a similar analysis for Avis or Hertz?
