I changed my account to Ritz-Carlton a couple of years ago and last year I called to change my account back to Marriott as I could not sign up for promotions. The woman I spoke to told me that I did not need to change it as I was automatically signed up for any Ritz or Marriott promotion as a Ritz reward member. Although I am unable to see my progress, I did get credit for the winter Marriott promotion and the Ritz promotion. Unfortunately my last 2 stays were in that period this spring where there was no promotion.
