Agreed, but I'd watch for a fare sale before doing something like that. I thought about suggesting that option, but OP asked to spend as little as possible, and a $4K+ P fare didn't seem like a bargain.
That said, if the overall price is acceptable to the OP, this may be the way to go, if only because that trip would count toward GS re-qualification.
