Don't trust BA when it comes to compensation. I personally would've refused to go on a train anywhere else unless they hand me a ticket or voucher, and probably have recorded the person saying that they wouldn't put you on the next available flight (regardless of carrier).
You’re right, apologies, it’s ChF93 (without any kind of discount-travel card). BA bloke was admamant they would not put me on LX, and equally adamant they would not pay to get to GVA as it is less than 300 miles away. Obviously, I’ll keep receipts and call tomorrow.
