Agreed, but does Flyertalk need yet another thread where Americans (in general) defend tipping as a means of topping up low wages and Europeans and Asians suggest that staff wages should simply be higher in the first place, through government intervention if necessary.

Personally, when I pay for a hotel room I expect that room cleaning is included as well as breakfast (due to elite status, brand standard, etc.). I also expect that an airport shuttle pick-up advertised as free is actually free. So, sorry... not tipping unless I get better-than-expected service.
