Apparently BA won’t pay to get to new airport if less than 300 miles away which Geneva is. But a Zurich-Geneva train ticket is about £150! And I’ll get home to LHR 2hours 45m late, which isn’t the end of the world but annoying and less than the 3 hour cut off for compensation.
So all in all a frustrating and expensive trip home.
Uhhh, it's definitely not 150 quid... Although they have to pay you the train ticket. Also, per EU regulations they would have had to book you on the LX flight, space permitting.
Don't trust BA when it comes to compensation. I personally would've refused to go on a train anywhere else unless they hand me a ticket or voucher, and probably have recorded the person saying that they wouldn't put you on the next available flight (regardless of carrier).
