Double check the airline is not renting out dirty old Wamos planes for the JFK-BOG sectors. They won't tell you until you rock up to the airport. You won't know in advance. In anywhere but Colombia, that is called fraud.
Not only are they 23 years old planes, and the dirtiest planes I have ever been on with really old uncomfortable seats, they are not flatbeds, they have no cushion left in the cushion, they won't give you a single mile credit.
Wamos is a dodgy low-cost Spanish carrier that Avianca rents.
And Avianca use the Swiss lounge at JFK. Not allowed entry. Swiss won't open the lounge for the early flights because it's not Avianca. It's Wamos.
I had the displeasure of taking this route in March. I credited UA for my miles, sorry, "we won't recognise".
So I am in a battle now with Avianca to get credited with SQ and if worst comes to worst, with AV.
Fare for this might be cheap, but if you're doing it as a run, forget it.
