A travel multitasker
I use a pair of rubber doorstop wedges under my laptop to give a bit of angle to the keyboard. They take up almost no space and have many uses. I've used them to wedge an uneven table, add some extra lift to a projector, as a silencer for the sliding door on the room air conditioner that buzzed every time the unit cycled They are also used as an extra lock on the hotel room door.. I added a small eyelet at the thick end of each an attached a long piece of dental floss (possibly the most useful travel hacking tool in existence) tied to one eyelet through the other eyelet and tied the free end to a small washer shaped magnet. I can then put the wedges in the most effective locations (typically the furthest point from the hinges on the floor and halfway up the door frame). I attach the magnet to the door (or frame) near the latch so I can remove the wedges by simply pulling on the floss (I have been afraid that I might forget the wedges if I’m trying to leave the room under duress (ie if the fire alarm goes off and the room lights don’t work.). I travel a lot, typically for four nights across multiple locations, frequently quite rural, so minimizing mass is important to me, as well as maximizing utility.
