BTW, the LRM pool is indoors in a sort of atrium on about the sixth floor. It's a very long lap pool with space (width) for two or three lanes and IMO a more attractive setting than the indoor pool at the Hongta (former StR). IIRC it's turquoise tile and reasonably heated but certainly not bathtub temperature. However, neither would be in contention for my favorite Starwood indoor pools list.
Useful info, thanks. It crossed my mind to ask to be moved, but unfortunately it turns out the LRC is having renovations and their restaurants are closed! There are some other nice hotels I'd like to try, so at this point I'm aiming to get a clean cancellation from the Marriott.

I've sent another message to the customer care team (not the hotel) to ask them if they agree that the hotel's response is unacceptable, will escalate to a phone agent if that doesn't get results. Still over a week til my stay so hopefully will get it all taken care of in time.
