But reading through, seems like HK twin seats should be avoided?

I wouldn't go for HK unless I didn't have a choice, although the biggest difference (that I noticed) between DG and HK is just some extra counter space for one of the passengers on DG (depending on the row).
The individual solo seats at K is far better than A seats for me, although I have not tried 4K/6K, where the complaints were the footwell was too small.
I had tried 1K before and I really enjoyed the seat with the bulkhead footwell. Light and noise were my biggest concern when I chose 1K, but I'm glad it didn't bother me too much.
