I don;t understand, why would anyone switch a FFN to an award night stay. I think you are confused.
In any event, I always book with points and then switch to FFNs, the agents get confused sometimes, but I have never had a problem. It is very interesting when you combine an award and FFN stay togehter. The reservations are actually separate, although under the same number. As cuch, you get 2 or more Dimoan amenties, depending on how the reservation was structure. One time I got 3 amenties (FFN, points, FFN) at Park Hyatt San Fran, so you do not get a choice of your amenty, receive the same thing every night sparkling wine and cheese
