Tragedy was avoided by a quick-thinking FA, who gave Mr. Magoo a bottle of whiskey. After finishing it off, he found that the bottom was his exact prescription and he peered through it while bringing the Jumbo Jet to a safe landing at CDG.

BTW, on my way home, the PHL TSA allowed me to take a bottle of red wine and corkscrew through security and told me not to get too drunk on the plane. Of course, I offered them some of the wine but they can't "drink and scan".
