Also vote do both if you can swing it, especially with no co-pay. I recently did a LAX-SIN mileage run and used $30k miles +co-pay each segment to upgrade, and it was worth every mile! Dinner on the outbound with breakfast arrival service. Plenty of food and it was excellent. Return was lunch, got dark quick as we were traveling east and everyone slept, then breakfast service and we landed back in LAX. Food was also great on this segment.

The lie flat seats make all the difference, slept 8 hours each way.
