Related to this is the Windows 10 1803 update. It's the major spring update. and it just about killed my Dell yesterday. The installation got stuck at 44% for hours, and I finally forced a shutdown. That led to "restoring previous version", followed by "repairing the disk" for several more hours. It finally came back to life, but now it is trying to redo the update. I tried stopping it (I am using the Home Edition, where stopping updates is close to impossible) using the "metered connection" trick, but that didn't work. I found a solution using the general policy editor, but that option is disabled on the Home Edition. I was able to get the GP editor running, and changed to requiring my permission before installing the update - here is hoping!

I have developed a healthy dislike of MS. Loads of users are experiencing this problem. During the fall update, it killed my older PC. I eventually took it to MS, and they couldn't fix it without doing a complete wipe. I really question the quality control of MS.
