Indeed, you acknowledge your understanding of this impending change by using the term "test the new policy" in connection with RC access.

The only thing that I find surprising is that you have indicated some sort of surprise on your part with respect to your response.

You are Platinum in SPG and you switched your reservation -- your perogative. If the hotel finds that it is not getting the type of traffic that they had in the past, and they can attribute the change to the decision to withold RC access until a point closer to your stay, then they might reconsider.

Although you may "test" the policy all you wish, I do not find their response to you "surprising" in the least.
