They should be offering you a reroute, but in the past they've been difficult about redemptions even though per EU261 there's no distinction. Usually they'll be a customer policy put in place but that might take several days; in the meantime agents may have little they can offer you. I wouldn't be surprised if they offer you a re-route to SA, and that won't be reliant on award availabililty.
