Unfortunately articles like the one printed may sway people not to trial the service but I'm pretty certain there will be people paying to trial it. I can stomach $30 better than I can $40.
Just popped in here as I noticed some traffic into AusBT from this forum (ta for the link, Xiaotung).

The review was submitted by a reader who does the odd contributions (hence the 'Reader review' slug) – AirNZ has yet to invite us to trial the service and I expect they won't, as are officially considered to be "difficult" by AirNZ PR (their exact quote!) ever since we first called out legroom issues with the B777 Spaceseat... anyway, any review will be a sample of one, so it's representative of that person's experience, and in a case like this the experience is going to be pretty straight-up. If some travellers are experiencing higher speeds, as sbiddle mentions, that's definitely pleasing to hear!

I agree that NZ$30 is far more palatable than NZ$40 and is more in line with the 'flight pass' pricing of other airlines, and if combined with more usable speeds should boost uptake. Perhaps AirNZ also needs to be handing out some time-limited trial coupons (eg 30 minutes free) to business class passengers and top-tier frequent flyers to encourage sampling.
