AF and KL sell tickets US to Asia via Europe all the time. Only DL places the restriction on routing via Europe, AF and KL don't care. And in this case you very specifically don't want to buy the ticket from DL anyway since the flights need to have AF flight numbers, not DL flight numbers, in order for the MQD "hack" to work.
