The OP's suggestion that it's painful to get Silver this way assumes first time qualification rather than retention.

If your usual pattern is 50+ flights a year, then only the first year is an issue. Your retention of Silver is then effectively automatic and you don't have to think about TPs at all.

...unless you then get the yearning for Gold of course.
