Answer was yes of course. He told me I would receive a package by post. This was also a month ago and since that nothing.
And worse, I made 2 rentals this week and my former Gold reward account does not exist anymore (login & password are not recognized). The guy who called me never mentioned that my account & credentials would change. So I did not even benefit of the classical Gold privileges for my rental in Germany. I told the story to the nice guy at Hertz DUS who was taking care of my rental. He searched in their database through my name and my street address and he found nothing at all.
