You could look at JFK-CDG-TYO. It's only 500 miles more than via MEX (though a couple thousand miles more than via ATL, MSP, or DTW).

Depending on what fare class you are buying you may be able earn more MQDs than the fare would otherwise yield on Delta. A good example of this is premium economy fares (CI or AF) or discount biz as they earn 30%-40% of distance flown as MQDs.
