In fact these QDLUPTN fares are NOT "Q" fares at all and it was determined over at the DL Forum that fares cannot soly be judged on their starting letter anymore.

When you are in std "W" award space and get upgraded to FC on an award ticket points it is listed as paid W/flown A on Worldperks statements.
So, I think it is a promotional "Q" fare that is "converted to A" you will be treated as if you had purchased (paid) for a Q designated fare. The upgrade is based on a Promotion/special.
