I've stayed here three times, although none more recently than the linked review above. Love the neighborhood. While Polanco has its fair share of tourists, it still has a local feel to it unlike the super-touristy location of the St. Regis. Love the hotel. Very small and boutique-y with great room and phenomenal shower. Much better to me than the much larger W down the road. Breakfast is good but nothing memorable. I also have received room 34 as a lifetime platinum guest. The gym noise did not bother me other than when walking by it when entering and exiting the room. The gym itself is pretty weak. Bottom line for me...if you are looking for the best starwood hotel in mexico city, this has been and will continue to be my favorite. But if you are looking to maximize the value of your platinum status with a suite upgrade and special recognition (and maybe a marginally better breakfast), then the St Regis is the better option.
