Alas, many new-fangled hotel thermostats "save energy" by simply not giving the amount of A/C requested from the thermostat. You can google a particular make and model of thermostat to find out how to bypass the "energy saver" (i.e. the "cheat the customer") feature. Google is the new-fashioned way . Back in my college days, we would mount a lit candle just under the thermostat, to make it think that the room was hot. That was the only way to make the "energey-saving" thermostat actually turn on the A/C.
