I registered and it took about an hour, but my status is now reflected as Platinum Pro. I have only been an Aadvantage member for a year (long story, might be buried in Flytertalk somewhere) and am stretching to reach gold. Not sure why I got Plat Pro instead of the Plat offer seen in another thread. Maybe because though personally I barely spend 3K in the last year, I've spent about 8K when you include wife and kids in my reservations? Maybe because I have the citicard exec card? Fluke?

Unfortunately, I have an award trip, 2 Basic Economy trips (booked before I decided to rebel against it), and a Europe trip all planned during the promo period, none of which I can take advantage of any upgrades due to status. I have exactly 1 trip planned where Plat Pro status can get me an upgrade. The main benefit is booking some MCE seats on the Europe trip (which is priced at a ridiculous ~400$ if my wife and I upgraded the seats with cash).

I can maintain status with 20,000 EQM and 3,000 EQD during the period it says in my email and when I read through the T&Cs, but nothing about any other targets. I already have about 15,000 miles and 1706 EQD of planned trips during the period, but squeezing in a mileage run isn't really going to be easy timewise for me (my booked trips are each 7+ day long trips). The only other thing that may make me book a ticket during this timeperiod is the death of a grandparent (I still have three who are all in the late 90s and ready to die, it is a real possibility). I wonder if I will get the Gold or Plat status until Jan 2019 like the offer above if I fail to meat the Plat Pro challenge but would have one or the other targets hit above. I also wonder -- can I book MCE seats on trips beyond the promo period for free even if I drop to Gold after the promo period but pre-flight? Or will they kick my seat assignment.
