Flying on CX to HKG via SFO next month. The flight to SFO leaves around 8pm, but I need a positioning flight from DFW first. Since there a several flights a day on the route I was thinking of flying up on the 788 that arrives around 2:30pm. One reason is I like flying on dreamliners. The other reason (and this is where I need some advice) they are less likely to delay the flight? In my head I'm thinking they need the 788 for a later international flight? I realize this isn't really sound reasoning, but flying in the night before incurs several hundred more dollars for a hotel. Should I pick an earlier flight or even the night before? ORD in summer can have storms etc. so I'm more concerned about connections there than say flying into LAX.
